November 99 Updates

3 Nov - Susan Rank

“Just a quick note to let you know that I have a new phone # here at Altus. Moving' up in the world! I got to move into one of the new --and much nicer -- rooms. There's a full-size fridge, 2 stove burners, plates, pots & pans, a separate bedroom & nicer bathroom, and a BIG closet! And the bonus: a heater that works!! Had my 1st of 2 checkrides last night. This was the airdrop one. It went really well. Now it's back to academics & simulators for formation air refueling before we go back to the flightline again. After that checkride, we'll be finished. Hopefully before Thanksgiving!”

Again on 17 Nov…

“Well, the checkride went well and I am finally finished here at Altus. I'll be on the road by this afternoon (17th) and will probably get home around the day before Thanksgiving. Going to take the scenic route home...going west from here past the Grand Canyon & other southwest sites and then up through CA and maybe pick up Hwy 101 for part of CA & OR. Anyway, I probably won't be checking the ol' e-mail for about a week, so don't expect to hear back from me! I will have the cell phone on though, so feel free to call & keep me awake driving through the desert! Happy Thanksgiving!”

…is working at Boeing here in Seattle (AF liaison-type job). His wife is Stacey, and the girls' names are Allison and Emily.

George Halley got married to Erin, in downtown Seattle. They are in missionary training in Los Angeles, with a plan to go to India in a few years.

“I've been in civilian world for a while now. The grass isn't that green on the other side of the street, at least in the beginning. I never thought I would be doing what I do now. The answer to the question of what I do, is a difficult one for me to answer since I wear so many hats. I'll do my best to keep everyone updated. I am a licensed stockbroker with a small client base focused on sophisticated options trading strategies and day trading. Most of my clients come from the options classes I teach at a local college. One of my larger clients owns a promotional products company. I share office space with him and perform all the duties of an owner, which include sales, accounting, inventory management, printing, and legal. The company essentially imports desk accessories and miniradios from China. I am essentially acting as a consultant. My consulting services include writing business plans, negotiating agreements, and financing if necessary. In the winter I am a booking agent for ski condominiums located in Breckenridge, Colorado. To sum it, I'm a senior at "the school of hard knocks" and getting ready to graduate. Some people call me an entrepreneur others call me stupid, only time will tell. I'm fortunate to be surrounded by a lot of my good Academy friends, who give me moral support from time to time. My roommates are Chris Sullivan and Tom Highsmith. I still live in Spokane. Fairchild AFB was my last assignment, and people around the base can see me out and about Spokane.”
